New Forest Autumn Shots
Over the month of October I visited several different locations in the New Forest and this is a selection of the landscape shots from a couple of them. All of the pictures were taken with the Zuiko Olympus OM 35-80mm F2.8 at an aperture of F16 on Fuji Velvia 50 positive slide film.
These first two were taken at Knightwood Oak. The weather conditions were good, as the sun kept appearing from behind clouds providing shafts of light through the trees.
Here I positioned the camera so that the shaft of sunlight was hidden by a tree. The best result was with an exposure compensation of +2/3 along with a warm up filter. If you are interested in understanding how a warm up filter can influence the effect of your photograph then take a look at my other post The Warming Effect & Under Exposure.
For the next shot I moved the camera so that sun beam was in view creating a sun burst effect. A manual exposure reading indicated that a shutter speed of 1/15 should be used with an aperture of F16. Again a warm up filter was used.
The next set were taken at Fritham. The weather on this day was hit and miss, one moment heavy downpours the next clear skies. A walk down into the wood found this stream, and a photo opportunity was made when the cloud moved past allowing the sun to shine through the tree canopy.
Warm up filter & +2/3 exposure compensation.
and on the way back I came across this front lit scene.
