Pearl-bordered Fritillary (Boloria euphrosyne) butterfly
This year I visited Bentley Wood in Hampshire in the hope of taking pictures of the Pearl-bordered Fritillary (Boloria euphrosyne) butterfly. This site was meant to be one of the few locations here in the south for this type of butterfly, and I was not to be disappointed as pretty much straight from the car park a lot were sighted on the wing. The bonus also being that the weather held up. All of these were taken on Fuji Sensia 200 ISO slide film.
This first image was taken using my Zuiko Olympus OM 135mm F4.5 macro lens at F5.6
Reading my butterfly book it mentions that the Pearl-bordered Fritillary (Boloria euphrosyne) butterfly are attracted to the Bugle plant, and this proved to be right. This next shot shows a pair fighting over the same Bugle, taken with the Zuiko Olympus OM 80mm macro lens at F5.6.
This next one posed nicely on some leaf litter.

and then late in the day one was discovered resting by the side of the path, and because the temperature had dropped off was able to increase the level of magnification all the way up to 4x.
These two at about 1x
