1st post of E620 & 70-300mm F4 lens digital shots, at Keyhaven
As mentioned in my previous post I purchased an E620 and during the festive period I tried it out with the Olympus 70-300mm F4 digital lens. This set of photo’s were taken at Keyhaven nature reserve, where you now have to pay to use the car park off season. I think the main reason is to cover the cost of the new toilets there!
Timing of this trip to the tide turned out to be pretty good, which was lucky as did not check beforehand, as it was on the way out although still channels of flowing water close to the harbour wall. I am pleasantly surprised and pleased with these results. The 2 big benefits for me being the in camera stabilisation (rather than in the lens) that worked extremely well, along with the whole kit being very light weight. All of these were taken hand held.
First encounter was a Cormorant (Phalacrocorax carbo).
This 1 just as it took off, at f8, ISO 400, 1/500
Then a little further along, found it had landed and was drying it’s wings. f8, ISO 400, 1/800 (This image is cropped)
Further a long I came across this Little Egret (Egretta garzetta), f8, ISO 400, 1/320, Exposure -1.
and close by was this Redshank (Tringa totanus), f8, ISO 400, 1/200
After this turned back, and walked over the bridge to the path you can take up to Pennington Marshes. By this time the sun was starting to set, however managed to capture a couple more shots. One of this Mute Swan (Cygnus olor) blowing bubbles f8, ISO 320, 1/200, exposure -1.
A silouete of some Godwits, f8, ISO 640, 1/4000.
and finally, spooked this Moorhen (Gallinula chloropus) which was very quick to make a sharp exit. f8, ISO 640, 1/100
