Broadcroft Quarry, Portland
Visited Broadcroft Quarry on Portland Saturday gone, a site renowned for Chalk-hill Blue butterflies (Lysandra coridon). There was a good showing this year on a windy bright sunny day. The strong breeze meant that the majority of photo opportunities centered around the butterflies resting on grass stalks so I experimented with different angles of view and depth of field to add variety.
These are my favourites shots.

Followed up by a female Chalk-hill Blue on a flower

I also shot this front on using the blue sky as a background for a different effect.

I then came across this feeding Common Blue (Polyommatus icarus)

Now back again to the Chalk-hill Blues.
Got down low to shoot this one from below.

Next used back lit sun to obtain this effect, blurring the stalks in the background.

I then changed the angle slightly using the blue sky as the background.
