Blashford Lakes nature reserve Woodland Hide
This is a selection of the wide variety of small birds viewed around the Woodland hide at Blashford lakes nature reserve on Sunday just gone. First up a couple of contenders for singer of the day.
Dunnock singing (Prunella modularis)
Then a Robin singing (Erithacus rubecula)
There were two species of Redpoll in attendance, the Lesser Redpoll (Carduelis cabaret) who breed in the UK, and a Mealy Redpoll (Carduelis flammea) who is a winter migrant.

This perch proved to be very popular spot to land on prior to flying on to the feeder, as shown with this next set of shots.

A Great Tit (Parus major)
and a Siskin (Carduelis spinus)
There are several trees with no foliage at this time of year close by to the Woodland hide that also offer good photo opportunities.
