Blashford Lakes nature reserve
The decision was made to visit Blashford Lakes this weekend what with the high winds and occasional heavy downpours not being very conducive to macro photography. The ability to duck into a close by Hide proved a worthwhile on more than 1 occasion, as the fast approaching dark clouds produced very heavy rainfall at times.
The tern hide was the first stop on arrival where you may see Swifts & Swallows swooping around. There are also Common Terns (Sterna hirundo), Lapwings (Vanellus vanellus) and Black-headed Gulls (Larus ridibundus) about.
Here is one Tern on a turn!

Another pair of Black-headed Gulls outside the Ivy South Hide seemed more interested in filling their gullets.

The majority of the birds at Woodland Hide were Finches and Tits.
This Great Tit (Parus major) looks like it enjoys the rain as much as we do.

A female Chaffinch (Fringilla coelebs) did not seem to appreciate the males advances.
