Butterflies & Flies

As well as the dragonflies and damselflies I also photographed a couple of butterflies and flies at Blashford Lakes nature reserve. The first butterfly was this Red Admiral (Vanessa atalanta) which was flying around madly for quite some time.

There was also this Scorpion Fly (Mecoptera) close by.

and this very small Cloeon dipterum mayfly, which I thought at the time was a mimicking predator until id’ing properly back home.

The last is the 2nd butterfly, a Green-veined White (Pieris napi)
