Mating damselflies & a Bee Orchid
For a while now I have been trying unsuccessfully to photo mating damselflies, until yesterday and the success could be attributable to a visiting a different section of Blashford Lakes nature reserve to the recent norm. This time around chose to walk the paths that take you to the Goosander and Lapwing Hides.
Managed to photo not 1 but 2 types of damselflies mating. First a pair of Common Blue damselflies (Enallagma cyathigerum)

and secondly a pair of mating Azure Damselflies (Coenagrion puella)

The choice proved good for another reason as well, finding this Bee Orchid (Ophrys apifera).

Here are a few other shots from the visit.
This Common Blue Damselfly (Enallagma cyathigerum) appears to be a bit shocked to find me taking it’s photo.

Two unusual looking caterpillars, although not entirely convinced the second is a caterpillar.
