Crockford, New Forest
Today saw a visit to Crockford in the New Forest, a heathland habitat with a pond and a small stream. Spotted several chasers and emperor on the wing around the pond, along with this pair of mating Mating Common Blue Damselflies (Enallagma cyathigerum).
Chasers were also on the wing close to the stream, which I chased to no avail. I did manage to get this Large Red Damselfly (Pyrrhosoma nymphula) instead.
On the way back found both the male and female Keeled Skimmer (Orthetrum coerulescens) by the gorse beside the path.
The male
and finally this male Silver-studded blue (Plebeius argus) one of many seen in the heather.
