Gannets at Troup Head
Traveled up to the Torridon region in Scotland again this year for a break, and on the way took the opportunity to visit the RSPB Troup Head nature reserve site which has Scotland’s only mainland gannet (Morus bassanus) colony. The trip proved to be a worthwhile excursion as the gannet’s were there in numbers. There is a short and reasonably easy walk from the car park to the cliffs. However, if you are afraid of heights or falling, I think I am afraid of both, then the approach to the cliffs to see the gannets will not be as easy.
These are the pick of the shots from the day after I stopped shaking!

Here I zoomed out to give an idea of the size of the colony on one section of the cliff face.
