Whitemill Solitary Bees
Due to the cold weather snap earlier in the year this seasons solitary bee collection from the banks of the river Stour, close to Whitemill, were later than normal and over a lot shorter period of time, last week of April to mid May.
They are attracted to the flowering dandelions (Taraxacum officinale) and you will either find me lying down amongst the dandelion to get the shot or wandering around trying to spot them. Sometimes more time is spent doing the latter than the former. Anyways on to the pics!
The 1st two successful shots

The next show how these particular bees carry the pollen, stuck to hairs, known as scopae, on the upper inside of their back legs
and here is the final photo of the collection.
Hope you enjoyed them.
