Saturday 30th March Macro
I wandered around Blashford Lakes nature reserve with my macro photo gear in the hope of photographing a few insects on the Saturday just gone, the 30th March.
Similar to last year there is a plague of blue beetles, which I think are Agelastica alni (Alder leaf beetles).

A pair of them appeared to be fighting to be king of the castle

There was also a first new specie of beetle for me, a Rove Beetle, possibly the Othius punctulatus Rove Beetle.

The only other shot from the day was this St Mark’s Fly (Bibio marci)

Nice selection. I had that Rove as Sepedophilus marshami – not sure who is correct!
Thanks. Hopefully someone will be able to ID it. It may turn out that we both have it correct
But I think I am!
So I may be right on the beetle id.
