Macro in April & May

As the title suggests this is a selection of macro shots taken at the end of April & through May of this year using a variety of lenses with my Olympus camera.

I have decided to put them in date order starting with a couple taken on the 22nd April at Blashford Lakes nature reserve using the Olympus 80mm F4 macro lens. They are colourful metallic beetle and a flavoguttata nomada solitary bee.

Now on to the ones in May, beginning on the 11th, using again the Olympus 80mm F4 macro lens and from Blashford Lakes nature reserve.

First off one of my favourite type of shots, a head shot of a damselfly.

There was a wide variety of insects about that day including a Acorn Weevil (Curculio glandium), a Rhabdomiris striatellus plant bug, what I believe to be a 1st instar shieldbug, and a Myopa pellucida thick-headed fly.

12th of May is next and just a single shot of a pair of Common Malachite soft-winged flower beetles (Malachius bipustulatus) appearing to wrestle each other. These were found on Sopley Common in Dorset and taken with my Olympus 60mm F2.8 lens.

Next set span the dates of 19th, 25th, 26th & 27th of May. All taken at Blashford Lakes nature reserve using the Venus LAOWA 60mm f/2.8 2:1 Ultra-Macro Lens.

It’s quite a mixture comprising of a possible Red Pant bug, some more damselfly head shots, a Cantharis cryptica soldier beetle, a Jumping Spider (Heliophanus cupreus) having a snack, a couple of Honey bees (Apis mellifera), a Yellow Flat-footed fly (Agathomyia wankowiczii), and a Bramble Sawfly (Arge cyanocrocea).
