1st Macro shots of the year
Visited Roydon Wood recently looking for spring flowers, which were lacking. Instead found some small critters under logs and leaves to take instead, giving me the chance to use my Zuiko Olympus OM 38mm F2.8 lens for the first time in anger, to shoot some macro photo’s. This lens uses extreme magnification, so I use my twin Olympus OM T28 flashes with wide angle flash filters to diffuse the light.
I used a roll of Fuji Velvia 50 slide film for this pictures.
First up found this small spider, 3x magnification at F11.
then looking through the leaf litter and under logs in search of Springtails (Entomobrya nivalis) I came across this centipede (Lithobius forficatus), taken at 3x magnification, F11.
and finally managed to find a springtail and get a decent shot off. These are very difficult to picture as they only range from 0.5mm’s to 6mm’s in size. 4x magnification, F11.
