High Wood & Badbury Rings
Visited High Wood & Badbury Rings yesterday for both macro and landscape photo opportunities. The car park that has the most direct path to High Wood was full, so parked at the Badbury Rings car park, and then preceded down the left hand path. This eventually reaches a T junction, where I spotted a field of Rapeseed (Brassica napus) on the left that offered a good landscape shot.
I had to wait a short while for the dark clouds to pass by the sun for this HDR.
The wait proved worthwhile for another reason as my brother had discovered Crab Spiders (Misumena vatia) on Dandelions (Taraxacum officinale) close by.
These are my two favourites.
We then returned to the T-Junction and followed the path to the right. This will bring you to a 4 way crossing, and you can access High Wood by going straight ahead or turning left, we went left signposted Badbury Rings.
The access to High Wood is on the left hand side, directly opposite the stile entrance to Badbury Rings.
There is a good display of Bluebells (Hyacinthoides non-scripta) at the moment.
and there are Greater Stitchwort (Stellaria holostea) on show
After a circular walk around High Wood we left by the way we came in and took the stile opposite. This scene presented itself on the return to the car park.
