A Curlew, A Stonechat and a gaggle of geese

Stanpit marsh nature reserve was today’s destination and the section of the path closest to the car park which seems at the moment to be the best location on the reserve for getting close to the wildlife.

This Curlew (Numenius arquata) was close and nicely side-lit.

Then a male Stonechat (Saxicola torquata) decided to hop closer and closer to present a good photo opportunity.

It turned out he didn’t seem best pleased to be photographed!

and in the end turned his back before flying off.

Last pic of the day is from the top end of the reserve where there was this gaggle of Brent geese (Branta leucopsis).
